You can strategically book your hotel in Canmore but still enjoy everything Banff has to offer as it's a only a very easy (and beautiful) 20 minute drive between the two towns.

Where is Canmore located?
Canmore is just over an hour drive west of Calgary's International Airport and a 20 minute drive from Banff (if you're coming from Calgary, you have to drive through Canmore to get to Banff!)

There are two restaurants that you need to visit during your stay in Canmore:
Craig's Way Station for breakfast with a view! Craig's gives casual, old school diner vibes while serving good ol' comfort food. Their service is warm and friendly and you can't beat the view of the mountains!
The Wood Restaurant and Lounge is great for a nice lunch or dinner on the best patio in Canmore with a view of the mountains all around you.
What can I do in Canmore?
Relax and take in the spectacular beauty of being literally nestled in the mountains! Canmore can be pretty low-key. It's even a popular retirement destination for many Alberta locals.
